Bring a true Southern Pacific Mikado to your layout.
This N-scale Southern Pacific Mk-class 2-8-2 Mikado locomotive shell is a high-resolution resin replica based on SP's T&NO Mk-5 class Mikados. The model is designed for builders who want a prototype-correct Southern Pacific appearance without compromising proportion, appliance placement, or build flexibility.
The Mk-class Mikados were among Southern Pacific’s most numerous and longest-lived freight locomotives, serving system-wide from the 1910s through the diesel era. This model line reflects that evolution, offering multiple historically plausible boiler and appliance configurations representing as-delivered, modified, and inherited variants.
All shells are engineered for kitbashers, painters, and detailers who want an SP-specific look that mass-market models rarely capture.
Mechanism compatibility:
These locomotive shells were designed to fit Broadway Limited's USRA mikado, and may be modified to fit other mechanisms, however FLW does not guarantee the shell will fit anything other than the USRA light or heavy Mikado from BLI.

Intended Mechanism Compatibility
Designed for experienced builders and kitbashers.
Minor trimming or fitting may be required depending on mechanism choice and production tolerances.
FLW tender trucks are in development and will be offered when production-ready.
Material & Finish
Precision 3D-printed resin
Fully cleaned and cured
Support structures removed
Some light cleanup may be required:
Minor support remnants may remain
Light sanding may be beneficial before paint
As with all resin kits, small surface imperfections are normal and part of the modeling process.
Skill Level
Intermediate
If you’ve swapped locomotive shells, detailed steam locomotives, or built resin kits before, this model will feel familiar.
Finish & Detailing Expectations
These models are engineered for:
Accurate Southern Pacific proportions
Crisp rivet and seam detail
Scale-correct boiler and appliance spacing
Historically plausible configurations across multiple Mk classes
Some artistic license is applied where strict scale dimensions conflict with durability, assembly, or surface detail clarity at N scale.
Pricing Summary
Locomotive shell only — $54.99
Locomotive + tender — $69.99
Locomotive + tender + trucks — $89.99
Important Notes
Photos may show mechanisms or trucks for fit reference only — not included
